Interview Series: Gen Z Meets AI #8

introduction

Hello. I would like to introduce the profile of the person I interviewed this time.

Profile

He is a third-year student (20) at a university in Tokyo, majoring in sociology. He lives at home with his family and actively communicates with people on a regular basis. He is most concerned about making money in the future and is trying to make many things more efficient to achieve this. For example, he uses a Roomba (a type of cleaning robot), which is very useful because it cleans by itself. He lives his life according to these values, and his answers to the interview questions are presented in detail below.

Impressions of AI

Frankly speaking, he says he is not that interested in AI. He seems to use Roomba and Alexa on a regular basis, but he points out that he only uses them because they make his daily life easier. To summarize what he said, he thinks that the ideal AI should be one that has no emotions and just faithfully carries out tasks in response to human commands. When I asked him to describe his vision of AI and robots in pictures, he produced an image of something like the familiar robot from Star Wars (I cannot post the actual picture for copyright reasons).

Final thoughts

One of the findings emerging from this survey is that not everyone has a positive impression of AI. However, as technology develops and becomes more prevalent in people’s lives, I believe that the way people think about it will change.
